Activity Director Position

Position Summary

The Activity Director is responsible for planning, organizing, implementing and executing weekly activity programs that provide entertainment, enjoyment, and stimulation consistent with the skill levels of the residents of ‘board and care' assisted living facilities. The Activity Director also organizes any volunteers or outside entertainers.

Reports to : President of Living Made Easier

Status: Independent Contractor

Recommended Minimum Position Qualifications

Education

•  Some college or certification preferred in a related field: activities, performing arts, music, business, teaching or recreational therapy

Professional Experience

•  2+ years working in activities, performing, music, sales, teaching, recreational therapy, event planning, customer service or public speaking

Technical Skills

•  Conducts resident survey of interests

•  Ability to use word processing software, internet, email, and excel

•  Ability to physically get in and out of your own car and carry required materials. Requires bending and lifting. Ability to lead simple chair exercises

•  Perfect command of the English language

Behavioral Skills

•  Customer Focus: keeps the internal (residents and caregivers) and external (families, owners, manager) customers as the focal point of all activities. Helps business achieve goals and meet or exceed customer expectations

•  Leadership: able to influence the actions of the group to meet activity objectives

•  Organization: is prepared with all the necessary tools to execute a successful program

•  Flexibility: modifies style and approach to complete effective activity program. Able to “think on your feet”

•  Creativity: ability to create a new program or modify a current program to meet the needs of the group

•  Enthusiasm: conducts programs with an upbeat attitude and vigor

•  Patience: ability to relate to seniors with potential physical and mental limitations. The ability to speak slowly and react slowly so the residents understand you

•  Effective Planning: organize and implement weekly activity schedule

Licensure/Fingerprinting

•  Valid driver's license required
